SENIOR PROGRAMS

Join us for a monthly class just for seniors! Each class will include an educational presentation and a short zoo tour. 

Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m., generally the first Monday of every month
Fee: $20/class

Thinking about registering? Please do as soon as you are able. We need a minimum number of registrants offer the class. Classes may cancel up to 1 week prior to the class date.

There is a lot to learn about the world's largest land mammal. Beyond their size, these social and intelligent animals each have a unique personality.  Learn how they relate to each other, their keepers and the award winning Elephant Forest exhibit here at the zoo.

 Lion Enrichment

Do you ever enjoy a crossword, Sudoku, or word search?  Our animals here at the zoo might not be opening a newspaper like you but our keepers have some unique ideas to stimulate their bodies and minds.  Work together to make an enrichment item for one of our animals which will be used this fall during the Pumpkin Bash!

No matter how large or small the patient, our in-house vets have a big job.  Taking care of our animals at the zoo has its challenges.  In this class we will learn how animals are cared for from head to toe from dental care to nail trimmings.

Flock to the zoo to learn about local wintering birds in Seattle.  We'll study adaptations our native feathery friends have to survive the winter and study how the zoo's exotic birds are cared for during these colder months.

Love is in the air as spring will soon be here.  Humans have notions of being "twitter-pated" as the 14th nears...but in this class, we'll explore how animal pairings are made an managed.  Discover some of the trials and tribulations of playing animal matchmaker.
