At Party for the Planet, celebrate the wondrous gifts of nature and wildlife with us! Enjoy fun conservation activities, an upcycled craft contest, or take an eco tour—even learn how to make paper from elephant poo! Join us in making our planet an even better place to live for future generations.

 

Winners Announced: Upcycled Wild Craft Contest

Congratulations to our Upcycled Wild Craft Contest winners. The winners creatively turned used materials into masterpieces.

Eco Tours

Every day during Party for the Planet you can take a free, guided environmentally-focused tour of the zoo. Tours are offered in the following themes and rotate every day:

    • Conservation Tour
    • Climate Change Tour
    • Tree Tour
    • Green Zoo

Tours depart from the West Plaza at 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.  daily. No registration required.

Upcycled Wild Craft Contest

Upcycle used materials and turn them into a masterpiece! Use bottle caps, old furniture, or food packaging: the possibilities are endless! Your beautiful creations will help reduce the waste that ends up in landfills.

Contest entries are judged in the following age categories:
- Ages 5-8
- Ages 9-13
- Ages 14-18
- Ages 19 + up


Entries are accepted between March 29–April 11. Contest results will be displayed on April 12 and 13.

One winner will be selected in each age group and receive a Real Close Tour for two people and an upcycled item from the zoo’s Conservation Commerce. One of the four winners will be chosen as the overall winner and win an upgraded Conservation Commerce item.

E-cycle Event

April 11, 2014, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | South Lot

Help keep harmful toxic materials out of our environment! Woodland Park Zoo is teaming up with Total Reclaim and hosting a one day e-cycle event. Bring your used electronics to the zoo’s South parking lot at N. 50th Street during the event and have them recycled free of charge.
