Creating living landscapes for wildlife and people
OUR PARTNERS
What is a Living Landscape?
It is the land mosaic of human areas and protected natural areas in which our conservation collaborators work to foster sustainable living for people and wildlife. Increasingly, we are learning that to save animals in protected areas and for people to fully benefit from ecological services, wildlife must also have access to human-dominated lands around them. Living together sustainably means both wildlife and people win.
Woodland Park Zoo's international conservation projects are carried out by the zoo and collaborators working around the world. These projects take a comprehensive approach to conservation by incorporating habitat and species conservation, research, education, capacity building and local community support.
