Frequently Asked Questions

Top Gift Membership Questions

I don’t know the gift recipients contact information; can I still purchase a gift membership?

Please be sure you know all your recipient’s contact information including their email address, mailing address and phone number before purchasing a membership for them. If you do not know their information, we strongly encourage giving a gift card in the amount of the membership instead.

Can I purchase multiple gift memberships in the same transaction?

Due to how our gift memberships are set up, please make sure to purchase each gift membership separately and with the recipient’s contact information including their email address, mailing address and phone number. Failure to complete gift memberships separately or with the recipients contact information will create issues with your gift.

How do I renew a gift membership I’ve gifted in previous years?

You can renew a gift membership either over the phone or at the gates. This will help ensure the correct record is renewed without causing any errors or gaps. Or you are more than welcome to give a gift card in the same amount of the membership instead.

I keep getting an error message while trying to purchase a gift, what should I do?

Sometimes an error may pop up saying there is something held in your cart when there is not. Please close your browser and wait a few minutes for the cart to clear. If you are still encountering this error or any others, please contact the membership office at 206.548.2425 or email membership@zoo.org.

Are memberships active at the time of purchase?

Yes, all memberships are active at the time of purchase, whether they’re a gift or for yourself. If you would like the membership to start on the first visit instead, we recommend giving a gift card with the amount intended for the membership.

I purchased a gift membership online, how will they be notified?

Gift recipients will not be notified of your purchase. However, if you would like to send something to your gift recipient, please email membership@zoo.org for a printable PDF. Or you can forward your confirmation email to the recipient that contains their digital cards, which can easily be saved in their Apple and Google Wallet. Members will not be given physical cards unless they submit a request; the zoo has transitioned to digital membership cards to reduce plastic waste and our carbon footprint.

Where are you located?

Our urban oasis is located about 5 miles north of downtown Seattle, in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood.

At what point can the WildLanterns discount be used?

Immediately after purchase! New gift membership recipients will have online accounts automatically created (see instructions below). If you are renewing for a current or past member, they will just need to log into their existing account. Once they are logged in as a member, they will receive 20% off full-price tickets (discount applied at checkout).

For gift recipients who are new members: In order for the gift recipient to purchase discounted WildLanterns tickets, they will need to visit tickets.zoo.org and log in using the primary email address on their record and membership number. Please ensure the gift recipient's email is provided when purchasing the gift membership. The member ID number will be listed on the purchase confirmation email on the digital card, which is emailed to only the gift purchaser immediately following the payment step. Once the gift recipient has logged into their new account, they can go to the main tickets.zoo.org page to purchase their WildLanterns tickets.

For gift recipients who are existing or past members: If you are gifting a renewal on an existing membership, inform your recipient their existing account will reflect the renewal and to use their online account information; primary email and member number, to log in to purchase their WildLanterns tickets.

If it does not work when they try to log in or the discount on WildLanterns tickets is not being applied at checkout, have them contact the membership office for help.
