Pond Turtles

Full-day camp for children ages 5 - 6.

DETAILS

Summer Camp

In Pond Turtles groups, children discover animals throughout the zoo, building skills such as empathy, peer collaboration, mindfulness, and scientific inquiry. A daily routine sets campers up for school year success, including morning circle, snacks, lunch, and bathroom breaks. Flexibility within the routine allows instructors to focus on campers’ immediate needs and interests, making each day a new adventure.

Summer Camp 2024 Themes

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Knees and toes! (We know you were already singing it!) Big or small, furred or feathered, our animal friends have body parts that help them survive. We’ll use observation, art, and play to discover how similar and different animals’ bodies are to our own. Do elk have toes in those hooves? Is a snake all tail? What’s a turtle’s shell like? Join us this summer to find out!

Home Sweet Home

Imagine you’re hiding at the edge of a pond... is it a little chilly and squishy for you? It wouldn’t be if you were a western pond turtle! Imagine yourself as all sorts of animals—where would you want to live if you were a lynx, a flamingo, or an orangutan? We'll play, imagine, and discover all the things that make animal habitats their home sweet homes.

REGISTRATION

Camp Scholarships

To support accessibility for families with financial barriers, we offer both partial and full scholarships. These scholarships can also apply to extended care registrations.

During the registration process, you will select that you are applying for a scholarship and complete the prompted questions. This will reserve your program selection without requiring immediate payment of any fees while staff review your scholarship request.
Staff will review scholarship requests bi-weekly and award, until funds are exhausted.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at camps@zoo.org if you have any questions. We are happy to walk you through this process.
