Animal ofrenda honors spirits of beloved zoo animals and pets
Zoo accepting submissions of photos October 22 through 31

WHAT:
In honor of Día de Muertos, Woodland Park Zoo invites the community to honor and celebrate the cherished pets and zoo animals who have passed away by submitting photos to a special animal ofrenda. The ofrenda will pay tribute to the beloved pets who have touched our hearts, animals that have lived at the zoo throughout history, and the enduring bond between people and animals, recognizing that all life is interconnected and worthy of remembrance.
On October 22 and 24, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., and October 25 and 26 during Pumpkin Bash, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., zoo staff will be at the ofrenda to assist guests with printing digital photos. In addition, coloring sheets and photo frame decorating supplies will be available during these dates and times.
Contribute to the ofrenda or simply experience this heartfelt tribute and honor the spirit of Día de Muertos—a meaningful space for reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for the animals who have shaped the history of Woodland Park Zoo, inspired wildlife conservation efforts locally and globally, and sparked joy for the zoo and community.
HOW:
Starting October 22, submit digital photos, drawings, or notes of cherished pets and animals by going to: zoo.org/pumpkinbash. Submissions will be accepted through October 31. Items contributed will not be returned.

The ofrenda will be unveiled on October 27 and open to guests during regular zoo hours through November 2. Starting October 25, photos and offerings will be showcased on TV monitors located at the ofrenda.
