Coveted compost Zoo Doo available in bulk: May 3 and 4
Zoo Doo celebrates 40 years of poop!

WHAT:
It’s time for gardeners—enthusiasts and novices—to place their bulk orders for Woodland Park Zoo’s coveted compost and pickup on May 3 and 4.
This year marks 40 years since the zoo began turning pungent piles of its animal poop into the richest, highly aromatic, most exotic compost in the Pacific Northwest. Zoo Doo is a great way to keep gardens clean and healthy for the benefit of pollinators and other local wildlife and is a sustainable green choice. The zoo’s horticulture experts also use Zoo Doo throughout the zoo in its award-winning animal habitats and other landscaped areas.
Zoo Doo is a fully composted concoction of bedding materials (straw, sawdust, wood chips, etc.) from around the zoo mixed with feces pooped by a variety of the zoo’s animals including zebras, giraffe, lions, pudus, primates, mountain goats, rhinos and more. The sweet, aromatic Zoo Doo is perfect for growing veggies and annuals.
Thanks to the generosity and support from the Sunderland Foundation and Microsoft, the new composting system has increased production—resulting in more than 1 million pounds of Zoo Doo a year—which means more waste turned into compost.
While picking up your Zoo Doo, bring a cell phone, tablet, or other used handheld electronics to recycle through ECO-CELL and be entered to win a zoo family membership!
