Join Seattle Public Library and Woodland Pak Zoo for free Disability Pride Month celebration at the Rose Garden

Story stroll, story time, bookmobile, animal experience and more

WHAT:             
Celebrate Disability Pride Month at the Woodland Park Rose Garden with the Seattle Public Library and Woodland Park Zoo. Guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can enjoy a host of free inclusive activities including: a story stroll in the Sensory Garden with a braille-enhanced story book by Mia Armstrong, “I am a Masterpiece,” an empowering story about inclusivity and growing up with Down syndrome; a performance by Coast Salish Stories; oral story time with ASL interpretation; a zoo ambassador animal experience; and information booths featuring various community organizations such as The Arc of King County, Washington Talking Book & Braille Library, and Music Center of the Northwest. 
 
Stop by the Seattle Public Library bookmobile. Stroll through the Sensory Garden, an addition to the Rose Garden designed for those with and without disabilities to touch and explore including deep-toned wind chimes, temple bells, and guiros—rectangular wooden posts with slots that create noise when touched. ADA bathrooms will be available next to the Rose Garden for the event.

COST:              
Admission to the Rose Garden is free year-round and Disability Pride Month activities are free. Parking fees apply in the zoo’s parking lots; the closest lot is the Lion Lot. ADA accessible parking stalls are available in all zoo lots. Parking fees do not apply in any zoo parking space for any vehicle displaying a valid disabled parking placard.
