PLANNING OUR FUTURE
Help shape Woodland Park Zoo’s future as a conservation destination

Woodland Park Zoo is creating a Long-Range Facilities Plan to guide the next 20 years of amazing animal habitats and extraordinary guest experiences, and the zoo is again seeking the community’s input to help shape its future!
The public has already shared many ideas with the zoo, emphasizing connection access and community. Now in this survey, the community can see and share thoughts on some of the zoo’s early campus concepts that make those ideas a reality.
How the survey works
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will randomly show one of three campus concepts to a respondent and ask questions about how they might want to interact with or experience the ideas.
The concepts
- All-Season Loop: awinter and fall-friendly route with indoor spaces and cold-hardy animals.
- Public Greenway: a connected greenbelt with community amenities outside the zoo’s front door.
- Savanna Days and Nights: an expanded and vibrant savanna including summer evening access.
The community can find the survey and more details about the proposed concepts at zoo.org/plan.
This new Long-Range Facilities Plan will guide the physical development of the zoo for the next 20 years. This will be the zoo’s third Long-Range Plan in its 127-year history.
When completed, the plan will act as a flexible framework to ensure the zoo continues to be a must-see destination and can meet the current and future needs of animals, people and the environment to achieve the zoo’s mission.
This planning began in June 2025 in partnership with the City of Seattle and Seattle Parks and Recreation and will continue through 2026.
