We’re so excited to share new photos of western lo We’re so excited to share new photos of western lowland gorilla mom Jamani caring for two infants—hers and Olympia’s—both boys. These sweet new photos show Jamani caring for both babies while Olympia is healing from her C-section.

Olympia underwent an emergency C-section on May 24 to deliver her baby, and Jamani gave birth on May 18. Our expert gorilla care team is hoping to unite Olympia and her baby soon and are monitoring behaviors and the health of the babies and mothers to ensure we can carefully guide that process safely and with respect to the dynamics of the gorilla troop.

In the meantime Olympia continues to show good signs of healing, Jamani is nursing both babies and the whole family troop is together. All the gorillas will have access to their outdoor habitat this weekend, but please note: The area with this family may be closed to guests to give the new moms and babies some space and time.

We know you have questions, so please see our previous blog articles for more info and background on the recent births at link in bio or blog.zoo.org

Thank you for your well-wishes and understanding as we honor some quiet time for this new family group!
