Woodland Park Zoo wants to be a place for all people and recognizes that financial, cultural or ability barriers can sometimes make access to the zoo a challenge. This month we invite you to nominate an individual or family in our community who could benefit from a free, joyful and uplifting zoo experience. Mini update on baby gorillas: Kadre and Oku are th

Mini update on baby gorillas: Kadre and Oku are thriving. Animal keepers tell us that Nadaya (Dad) is the perfect silverback father. His family group is calm and content. Nadaya lets Jamani and Olympia dictate access and closeness, but he can be heard “content grunting” when he hears the babies whine or briefly cry out. These sweet moments will soon turn into play as the brothers mature and make moves towards their father. For now, Nadaya is happy to watch them in their mother’s arms.

Brothers Tamaska, Hayes, Lorenzo and Benito arrived last September and represent a subspecies of the gray wolf, known as the Mexican gray wolf, which is critically endangered. Today is International Wolf Day, a beautiful excuse to drop everything and visit our pack to learn how these incredible canines play a critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

There’s an adorable new face in town—meet Jessie, a female Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth 🦥 She will join Fezzik and the golden lion tamarins in the Tropical Rain Forest. In true sloth fashion, Jessie and Fezzik are still slooowly being introduced to each other, so only one sloth may be visible in the short term while they get to know each other.
